How to Cook Air Fryer Pie & Sides

It’s the lazy cooking night dream. We wanted to come up with a few cheeky pie and side combos that work a treat in the air fryer and the best bit is that you can whip them up in no time!
If you own a dual-compartment fryer, then even better – chuck them in and set them so both are ready at the same time, then pour a glass of your chosen tipple, put your feet up and wait for the timer to go off 😎

Cooking the Perfect Pie in the Air Fryer
A pie cooked in the air fryer is simply superb. Crisp pastry with not a soggy bottom in sight and the pie fill still nice and moist, spilling out when you cut into it! The stuff that dreams are made of 🥧
In a conventional oven our pies need cooking for 20-25 minutes, while in an air fryer at 180 degrees 13-16minutes should do it nicely!

A Bit On the Side...😉
Little Roasties
Little roast spuds are the perfect accompaniment to a pie with lots of gravy or sauce. Not altogether that complicated, the trick here is to add plenty of salt, cover them in several glugs of olive oil and the right fresh herbs. Rosemary potatoes work well with pies like the creamy Chicken, Leek and Bacon, while oodles of fresh thyme compliment Steak & Ale Pies beautifully. A squeeze of lemon or a dollop of mayo to dip them in add extra yum factor! Baby potatoes are easy to grab from the supermarket and a variety like Charlotte work particularly well for this recipe. Cook them in the air fryer for 20 mins at 200 degrees.

Chunky Wedges
When it comes to potato wedges - the CHUNKIER the better (we would say that!!). Chop your potato into wedges and add some oil and your preferred seasoning – paprika, garlic cloves, rosemary or anything that makes your heart sing! Cooking time for these chunky babies is 25-30 minutes so prep these ahead of grabbing your pies. These compliment so many pie options, our go to choices would be ultimate steak or chicken, tarragon and mushroom.

Crispy Rosti Potatoes
There is a little more prep involved for these little nuggets of wonder but we can assure you that it’s oh so worth it! To create these crispy delights, peel and grate your tatties, before squeezing the moisture out, seasoning with salt, pepper and garlic powder, shaping into rough balls (rough being the operative word) and popping in the air fryer with some oil for 20-25 minutes! Plonk them on your plate with a Steak, Stilton and Mushroom Pie for a very moreish meal.

Veggies
Much as we adore a potato or several 🥔🥔🥔, there are other veggies that work just as well in the air fryer! Try a roasted veg medley which make a creamy pie sing (try a Mushroom Stroganott which is vegan friendly). Think aubergine, squash, courgettes, peppers and onions. Chuck them in the air fryer with a healthy glug of oil and plenty of salt (plus add some fresh rosemary or thyme, or a sprinkling of parmesan to elevate your Pieday night dinner!). These will cook in just 10-12 minutes in the air fryer and caramelise beautifully!
